In 1887, Dijon lawyer Stéphane Liégeard, based in Paris, published his book Côte d'Azur .

Taking advantage of the growth of tourist tourism made possible under the Third Republic by the development of the railroad, which joined Italy in 1868, Stéphane Liégeard regularly goes to Cannes, where he will extinguish in 1925.

It decides by this work to make known the region, whose title of Côte d'Azur will become eponymous to him.
