Bumblebee on germander flower

Bombus terrestris

Bumblebee
Vallon de la Brague, Alpes-Maritimes

The bumblebee is a placid insect that lives in society around a queen.

The bumblebee builds its nest underground. Even if it spends the winter in the shelter, it is less chilly than the bee and the worker bumblebees even go out to forage during the cold season if the weather permits. It is thus a more effective pollinator than the bee, waking up at dawn and fkying even in bad weather.

The bumblebee produces small amounts of honey.
