The town is part of the Regional Natural Park of Verdon: the village is located on the shore of Lake Castillon, which is an artificial reservoir of water crossed by the Verdon.
The place offers many water activities and is the starting point for many hikes, benefiting from its proximity to the Gorges du Verdon.
The site seems to go back to the presence of a Roman bridge over the Verdon, collapsed in the 17th century.
In the Middle Ages, it was a possession of the Lérins Abbey and was attached to the barony of Castellane from the thirteenth century.
